Application Guidelines For Funds Approval


Cradle of Hope provides assistance to pregnant women and to infants up to three months old. We will consider all applications where the financial crisis is caused by pregnancy or by expenses related to childbirth.

Amounts of grants are subject to the availability of funds.

1. UTILITIES – Medical devices needing utilities, only. Include a doctor's order and copy of the bill with contact name.

2. HOUSING* - We pay grants for rent and mortgage payments. No deposits

3. FOOD - Gift certificates from grocery store, Cub Foods or Rainbow in the Metro area - Nutritious foods, only.  No pop, candy, sweets. List name, address, and phone number of store.

4. MEDICAL - Make arrangements before baby is born. Submit the bill after birth. Up to $900.

5. PAST DUE BILLS - We do not pay past bills unless related to current pregnancy.

6. CHILD CARE - Must be pregnancy-related such as doctor-ordered bedrest with young children in the home.

7. STOLEN MONEY - Send copy of the police report from date of theft.

8. MATERNITY Clothes – Undergarments, clothing, or other maternity needs. Check with local crisis pregnancy centers for items before applying.

9. BABY ITEMS - Check: garage sales and local crisis pregnancy centers.  Submit a notice in your church bulletin/bulletin board.

*Housing needs and cribs are partially funded by the MN Positive Alternatives Program


After pursuing #9 without success, refer your clients to the closest Safe Slumber Crib Site below or call your nearest crisis pregnancy center to fill out a Baby Item Application .

Guidelines for need of baby items:
Crib/mattress: Unforeseen expense related to pregnancy; Enough income to pay only necessities.

Car seat: Are considered part of a client’s automobile costs, along with car payment, insurance, fuel and repairs.  They are awarded only when all client income has been depleted by other necessities.

Playpen: Lack of space for a full-sized crib; Protection for an infant.

Stroller: When walking is only form of transportation.

Diapers: For clients with ill babies going through many diapers; Unforeseen financial emergency.
Vouchers Include:
CRIB/MATTRESS: $140 – plus co-pay of $15 paid by the client at the time of purchase
PLAYPEN: $59.99
INFANT CAR SEAT $59.99
UMBRELLA STROLLER: $29.99
DIAPERS: $38.00
